With Steam’s recent introduction of trade reversals and a mandatory 7-day hold period on CS2 trades, platforms like Swap.gg must ensure that trades remain safe, transparent, and fair for all users. Steam can now cancel trades involving CS2 items within this 7-day reversal window, which affects how balances, payouts, and items are handled.

To adapt, Swap.gg is introducing a new balance system that distinguishes between reserved balance (still within Steam’s 7-day reversal window) and available balance (fully safe and ready to use). This update ensures that your items, balance, and payouts are tracked accurately and securely while still giving you flexibility to trade, where other platforms may not.

How the New System Works

1. Two Balance Types

Reversed Balance → Balance tied to CS2 trades (or partial CS2 trades) still within the 7-day Steam reversal period.
Available Balance → Balance unaffected by reversals (Rust, TF2, direct deposits, or CS2 balance after 7 days) which can be used to instantly withdraw items.

2. Trades and Balance Allocation

CS2-only trades: (leftover) Balance from these trades goes into Reserved Balance.
Mixed trades (CS2 + Rust items): CS2 portion → Reserved Balance. Rust portion → Available Balance. TF2 portion → Available Balance.

Why can't I trade certain items?

On Swap.gg, items can have various statuses that indicate they cannot be traded for different reasons. The following are the statuses you may encounter in the Swap.gg user inventory and their corresponding meanings:

Overstock This status indicates that we have already accumulated an excessive quantity of the item in our inventory. The duration for this status to change is fully automated and cannot be determined with certainty. We kindly request you to wait for another user to trade for some of these items.
Unstable When an item has the "Unstable" status, it means that it cannot be traded on Swap.gg due to factors such as its unstable price, low popularity, or low sales volume. Our pricing algorithm considers multiple factors and automatically determines whether we can accept the item at the given time. Please note that we do not manually accept items with this status
Trade locked If an item has the "Trade locked" status, it means that the item is temporarily locked by Steam and will become tradable in the upcoming days. For a comprehensive understanding of what a Steam trade lock entails, we recommend referring to our dedicated support article on the topic.
Too Low This status indicates that the item's value is too low for us to accept. Currently, we only accept CS:GO items valued at $0.10 or higher, as well as Rust and TF2 items valued at $0.05 or higher.

When the trade lock period of your reserved items has elapsed, you can effortlessly withdraw them to your Steam inventory. Follow these simple steps to complete the process:

1. Visit your Swap.gg Backpack.

2. Identify the items you want to withdraw and select them. 3. Click on the "Withdraw" button.

4. Our bot will generate a Steam trade offer specifically for the chosen items. 5. Proceed to accept the trade offer within the Steam platform.

How long do I have to withdraw reserved items?

When the trade lock period of your reserved items has elapsed, you will have a 72-hour window to manually withdraw them. It is crucial to take action within this timeframe. Failure to do so will result in the automatic cancellation of the item reservations. In such cases, the items will be sold back to Swap.gg at their current value at that time.

If you have chosen multiple items for trading, it's probable that they are located on different bots within Swap.gg. In such instances, you will always receive a "main" trade offer containing one or more items from one of the bots. When you request a trade, you will notice multiple trades being processed in the pop-up screen.

After the initial trade offer is accepted, our other bots will send you trades for the remaining items you have selected. If any of the items you chose are currently trade locked, a virtual trade will be conducted for those items, and they will be placed in your Swap.gg Backpack.

This process ensures that all of your chosen items are included in the trading process, even if some of them have trade locks in place.
